Robbie Marshall

I was bought up on a farm in Ferny Grove and both my brother and my dad used to ride around the farm so it was only natural that I followed suit and rode too. I first started riding around the place when I was just 4 years old and the first ever bike I had was a Honda QR50. From there, at 8 years of age, I started racing so I've been around motorbikes for a long time now!

I competed all over Queensland for all of my junior years of racing as well as competing in the National Titles, which were held once each year and in a different State each time. My best results were 2 nd in the 60cc class in 1995 and 3 rd in the 80cc class that same year. I also finished a close 3 rd in the junior 125cc class in 1999.

1998 saw a slight change in direction for me and I started a freestyle motocross career. I competed in the Australian X Games for 5 years and finished on the podium in 1998, at 14 years of age, getting a 2 nd place and a top 5 finish for the subsequent years. I still do the occasional Freestyle demo now and also, when I am needed, I ride for the Showtime International FMX Team, which is also supported by Yamaha.

In my first full year of competing in the National Motocross and Supercross series, I rode for a shop called Noyes Motorcycles on a Honda CR 125. My results were 4 th in the Supercross series and 6 th in the motocross series.

Due to that good result, I secured a factory ride for 2002 with the Motorex KTM Racing team on a KTM 125. I managed a 2 nd in the Supercross series and 4 th in the motocross series so overall it was a reasonably successful year.

I continued my ride with Motorex KTM for 2003, however injury and other negative factors during the year resulted in a 19 th place finish in the motocross and 7 th place finish in the Supercross. For the next three years right up until this point in time I have been riding for the Serco Yamaha Team. In 2004 I rode in the open class on a YZ 250 and finished 3 rd in the Australian Supercross series. I only competed in half of the motocross series in the lites class on a YZ 250F and yet still finished 9 th overall so it would have been interesting to see how high up I could have got had I rode the whole series.

For 2005 and 2006 I have ridden a YZ 250F in both the Supercross and Motocross series. My results have been up and down with injury mixed in with some great results.

2005 Results: 4 th Supercross, 8 th Motocross 2006 Results: 4 th Motocross, supercross is half way through.

Over the years I have been racing I have also won and been a top three contender in the Queensland Titles for each class I have competed in, coming right through from juniors on a 60cc up until now in the open class on a 450cc four stroke.

Also in my career I made a trip to America at the end of 2004 and stayed for 6 weeks into the start of their 2005 season. I raced on a Yamaha YZ 250F under the NCY Star Racing Team. It was a great experience, as I raced against the best in the world and only missed out on qualifying by one position each week for the first 5 rounds of the AMA Supercross Series. From here I want to continue racing in Australia and try to step everything up with my training and try to complete my goal of winning an Australian motocross and Supercross championship.

Other Interests: BMX riding, Cross Country Mountain Biking, Down Hill, Road cycling, wake boarding, anything involving sports that I am half ok at I guess... I also just enjoy hanging out with friends and going to the movies etc...
